Supporting the Supporters: Building a Doula Community Without Competition

1. Share Referrals Generously

When your calendar is full—or a request isn’t quite your vibe—pass it on.
That client will find the right doula, and you’ll be building trust in the community. We rise when we support families together, not hoard them.

2. Be Transparent About Pricing & Packages

Let’s stop guessing what others charge behind the scenes. Share openly about your rates, what's working (or not), and how you structure your offerings. It helps normalize fair pricing across the board—and removes the shame or secrecy.

3. Co-Host Workshops or Info Sessions

Whether it’s a webinar on postpartum planning or a local meet-the-doula night—partner up! Collaboration expands your reach and shows families that we’re a supportive network, not solo islands.

4. Create a Local Peer Support Group

A WhatsApp chat, a monthly tea meet-up, a Zoom call—whatever fits your life. Having space to vent, celebrate wins, swap tips about the Krankenkasse... it’s invaluable. No one understands doula life like another doula.

5. Speak Each Other’s Names in Rooms That Matter

Recommend each other to midwives, birth centers, therapists, even journalists. If a client needs a different language, specialty, or energy—pass the mic. Being generous with your connections strengthens all our foundations.

If we’re in this to care for others, let’s make sure we’re caring for each other too.
There’s enough space. Enough work. Enough success to go around. 💜
